september 2007

Well, it has been a seemingly calm Fall so far, but beneath the surface bubble all sorts of pet projects and responsabilities.

As soon as I got back from the Congo, we turned around and went to Italy - - the Venice Biennale was calling to us before my appearances at the Cortona Festival in Tuscany. Our good friend Eric Owens came and stayed in our villa

After Cortona, we rushed home to start the Klara Festival, which was hosted at Jan's theater, the KVS, and overseen by our dear friend Fabrizio Cassol. It was a music festival full of jazz, with all kinds of jazz greats doing concerts in the big hall and "late nights" in the "box." It was a crazy period, but so exciting. During this time, AKA MOON, Phillip Katrien, Toots Thielemans, and a huge host of Belgian jazz greats played at the theater. We met U.K. Sivaraman, a guru and mridagam master of the Southern Indian tradition (Carnatic), who played on the big anniversary Aka Moon concerts.
